About
A manipulation lab built for production handoffs, not brochure photography.
RoboShift Lab is an independent engineering studio on Vernon Drive in Vancouver, British Columbia. We prototype and commission robotic cells for clients who need accountable documentation when the integrator leaves site.
What we are
We are a manipulation and automation lab — engineers with bench habits, torque specs and oscilloscope cables in our travel cases. Our work spans cell assessment, end-of-arm tooling, robot and PLC integration, palletizing, force-controlled assembly and operator training. We are not a robot dealer earning commission on hardware, not a staffing agency supplying temporary programmers and not a turnkey integrator who disappears after FAT.
Clients include discrete manufacturers, beverage and food packagers, warehouse operators, medical-device assemblers and regional integrators who need specialized tooling or a second opinion before capital approval. We lead from Vancouver and serve British Columbia on-site; national clients receive remote design review and structured site visits when commissioning demands it.
We do not provide unsafe bypass guidance, undocumented lockout overrides or recommendations that circumvent WorkSafeBC or CSA requirements. We do not build weapons, military targeting systems or covert surveillance products.
How we work
Every engagement follows our Line method: Design, Build, Simulate, Verify. We insist on operator interviews before specifying cobot classes, on grasp trials with your actual parts before approving end-effector steel, and on maintenance-readable documentation before we close a project scope. Retainer clients receive scheduled drift reviews; project clients receive explicit punch lists and warranty-of-effort scopes — not open-ended time-and-materials without milestones. Our Vernon Drive robotics lab sits in the False Creek Flats industrial district, a short walk from fabricators and logistics operators who treat the floor as the final authority.
We prototype digital-twin models when CAD exists, run ROS integration benches when controllers need proving, and document functional-safety assessments against ISO 10218 and CSA expectations before any cell runs unattended — always with human-verified deployment and lawful, non-weapon use only.
